Combat
I fought you, tooth and nail, for a happy ending.
Battled your demons. Clashed with your doubts. Rallied against your fears.
Couldn’t win the battle.
But in the end, I won the war.

This is my submission for this weekend’s Trifextra challenge in which we had to write 33 words that included the word tooth.

But I won the war – deep thoughts, great entry!

This is wonderful, Suzanne. Such struggles happen in relationships all the time. I agree with Jennifer – those first two lines are amazing!
Aw, thanks Janna! 🙂
This is terrific! This was thought provoking–relationships can be a battle, but we always need to consider the war. I really liked this. You are an inspiring writer!
Aw, thank you so much! 🙂
Oh Suzanne, this is poignant, truth-filled and lovely. Beautifully done.
Thank you Jo-Anne! 🙂
This is excellent Suzanne though it does remind me of my own marriage. I won the war not the battle that is.
Thank you! I hope the war was worth it! 🙂
I felt this one. Deeply. Wonderful take S.
Aw, thank you so much! 🙂
Man, Thank you!

Nice job exploring so completely an entire relationship in only 33 words. Your opening lines are awesome, as so many have already stated. Brilliant work, as always.
