Trifextra: 3.5 Billion Years Ago

3.5 Billion Years Ago

Waves of liquid fire lap at shores lined with twisted cliffs. The sky blazes with bolide rain. This earth is wild. Hostile. Fierce. A smouldering rock floating among the stars. Labouring towards life.

This is my submission for this weekend’s Trifextra challenge, in which we had to write a time travel story in exactly 33 words.

And don’t forget to check out the upcoming Speakeasy challenge. The prompts for the coming week are up!

  1. This is stunning, Suzanne. That you can make me see all that way into the past is mind boggling. Labouring towards life *swoons* *swoons despite the extra u* : )

  2. Labouring toward life. You always write such beautiful lines, I can’t say “oh this one” or “that one!” but combined in the 33 words, they were telling and made me sit up. it was the possibility of “us” as a civilization and that is POWERFUL. 🙂

hope you had a good weekend

  3. I like the potency of the imagery here – every word concise and powerful.
PS – the image reminds me of my honeymoon in Hawaii. 🙂
