Henry
You are a natural-born pack leader with my father’s eyes.
Intense and independent; kind and empathetic.
Master of fear-inducing fearlessness; purveyor of infectious laughter.
You are sunlight dancing through trees.
My absolute joy.

This is my submission for this weekend’s Trifextra challenge in which we had to write exactly 33 words inspired by the image below by Erik Solheim, and with the following instructions:
We want soul-soaring happiness out of you this week.
Changing seasons made me think about my son and how amazing it is to watch him grow into his own little person. When he laughs, it’s hard not to be filled with soul-soaring happiness. FYI, in the picture above, he was pretending to be a vampire.

Henry’s photo by me.
Suzanne-he’s precious! And my heart melts at the last line of this-
“My absolute joy.”
Isn’t that completely and totally the truth!
(And if my daughter Amy had been a boy-she’d have been named Henry!) 🙂
I LOVE these 33 words SO very much!! You have every reason to be proud of your boy:)
Aw, thank you so much Valerie! Yep. He really is a joy, even when he’s being a pain. I love that you would have chosen the name Henry for a boy. Amy is a beautiful name too! 🙂
Happy indeed! Enjoyed reading this joy-filled portrait, Suzanne. As always, well written. :))
Thank you so much Jo-Anne! 🙂
Lovely poem!
Thanks Gabriella! 🙂
A mother’s love radiates from these words. Very sweet and so much pride conveyed in a few love-filled words!
Aw, thanks Shawn! 🙂
Lovely Suzanne. It’s wonderful capturing our children trying to be something else, as a vampire he is the cutest one I’ve seen.
Thanks! Yes, he makes a pretty cute vampire, doesn’t he? 🙂
Happy, lovely poem. Nothing is more wholesome than a mother’s love.
🙂 Thank you!
That child is A-dorable! I just know he keeps you on your toes, with that fearlessness, but I could read the smile in your words.
Yep, he’s quite a handful (used the word frustrating this morning!), but I wouldn’t have him any other way! 🙂
I completely understand. 🙂
I figured you would. 🙂 Thanks Tom!
Awwwwww….:)
🙂
Suzanne, I love that you used the prompt to introduce us to your precious boy. A mother’s love for her child is a joy to experience and witness. Another fabulous piece!
Thanks Ivy! It really is – it’s one of the things I enjoy about your blog. 🙂
That picture is pretty intense. He seems like a fun, enthusiastic sort.
Yep. Fun, enthusiastic, intense, exhausting. But it’s so cool to watch him grow. 🙂
This is sweet and beautiful! Children have a way of capturing our hearts like no one else can.
So true. Thanks Janna! 🙂
Rely on a child to always capture the happy part in each season… lovely
Absolutely! He can almost make me forget how much I hate the winter! 🙂
Oh my goodness, I can relate to this 100%. Even the vampire part. 🙂 Beautiful subject, and beautiful writing.
That’s pretty awesome Christine! Mini vampires are the best. 😉 Thanks so much for commenting!
No question about the love contained within these words for such a precious boy. Awesome.
Thank you! 🙂
🙂 🙂
Adorable. 🙂
Thanks Ashley! 🙂
I like the way you developed from the prompt and incorporated the sunlight – a master stoke. (And a lucky son to have such a loving and talented mother.)
Aw, thanks Sarah Ann! You are too kind. 🙂
Beautiful….also … if you would like….http://anhonestdayortwo.com/2013/08/20/humbly-honored/
Thank you! And thank you so much for the nominations! 🙂
Thank you:)
Master of fear-inducing fearlessness. Now that’s a phrase that resonates. MY stomach lurches as I recall some of the adventures my boys got into. Twins now verging on 22, one was forever pushing the boundaries while his soulmate just looked on in awe or mystified bemusement. Fraternal not identical, David has become a unicycle-rider who twirls fire sticks at the same time. He was the one who would make sparkler bombs. A young man in my state recently blew his hands off doing the same, stupid thing. (I was unaware at the time I assure you!). And I can vividly recall how David’s lack of fear would cause my toes to curl up. A magic phrase that is utterly evocative, Suzanne. Well said, mate!
Oh dear! Sounds like I’m going to have my hands full for a long time to come… Though I have to say a unicycle-riding fire twirler would be a pretty cool thing to see! 🙂
Thanks for commenting David!
Ah, parenting is the only game in town. Utterly challenging, of course, but a superlative dividend-payer if you just give your child/ren unconditional love and understanding. I have not a skerrick of doubt that your son will enjoy a magical childhood/young adulthood. He is in good hands. Have a ripper weekend, Suzanne!
Thanks David! You have a great weekend too! 🙂
Somebody essentially lend a hand to make severely posts I might state.
That is the first time I frequented your web page and to
